
On the 31st of May, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe from Japan visited JCC for the first time. Amongst the guests present to greet Prime Minister Abe were Minister of State from MCCY, Mr Sam Tan, and Parliamentary Secretary from MCCY, Ms Low Yen Ling and Ambassador at Large from MFA, Professor Tommy Koh.
Prime Minister Abe spoke about the enhancement of relations between Japan and Singapore through the use of Japanese Art Crafts with Mr Sam Tan sharing the same sentiments. Following which, Prime Minister Abe and Mr Sam Tan partook in a ribbon cutting ceremony to commence the “Beauty of Kogei: Art Crafts in Japan” Exhibition.
After the official ribbon cutting ceremony with Mr Sam Tan and Ambassador Ando, President of the Japan Foundation, Prime Minister Abe viewed the exhibits and spoke to the artists who were more delighted to explain their works.
